King of Prussia, PA (March 7, 2010) - At the EPYSA AGM, Emma Husted-Sherman (Predators’92G), Austen Kelso (Predators’92B) and Dylan Sutera (Predators’91B), were presented with the 2010 Union League of Philadelphia Good Citizenship award.  They were 3 of 15 recipients of this award selected out a very strong field of candidates.  This award is given to high school juniors who must "demonstrate marked evidence of good citizenship as manifested by a cooperative attitude, self-control, perseverance, good sportsmanship and efforts to uphold the best traditions and principles of the American way of life." Congratulations to Emma, Austen, and Dylan - WCUSC is very proud of you.

(March 6, 2010) Haley Miller, former WCUSC player and daughter of WCUSC Board Member Mike Miller, was selected to the US Youth Soccer Region 1 team that is competing in the Under-19 Kuban (Russia) Women’s Soccer Tournament this month.  The Region 1 team had their first game today, tying Russia’s Krasnodar Region 2 team 2-2.  Haley was named to today’s starting line-up and played the full 80 minutes.  To follow Haley and the Region 1 U-19 Women’s team, visit the trip journal.

February 27, 2010 - At the WCUSC Annual Coaches and Team Administrators Appreciation Breakfast, the 2009 Coaches of the Year Awards were presented to Shane Coyne (Travel) and Anthony Castrucci (Recreation). The Predators’96 & Predators’00 Girls teams (pictured above) joined the celebration to honor coach Coyne.  Anthony Castrucci was given his award by Damon Nolan who read from some of the nominations that were submitted for Castrucci.
  During the breakfast, the WCUSC Service to Youth Award was given to John Sanger and an award was presented to Bob Schlentz to recognize the WCUSC Eagles’92 Boys EPYSA Challenge Cup Championship.

(February 1, 2010) WCUSC is pleased to announce our 2010 SPRING BREAK CAMP SERIES. WCUSC will be offering three levels of camps to kickoff the spring: First Touch Soccer Camp, Recreation Soccer Camp, & Directors Camp.  Our dynamic camp program will focus on developing players’ technical ability, tactical awareness, and creative play. All camps will be held Monday, March 29th to Thursday, April 1st from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM (with Friday, April 2nd as a rain-out date) at the WCUSC Turf Field (Player drop off available @ 8:30 AM).  There is an early registration discount available until February 20th.  For more information, visit the Camps page.

The WCUSC Spring 2010 First Touch and Recreation Soccer Leagues are for boys and girls from five to eighteen years old and are open to all children in West Chester & the surrounding area. Registration is available by using the online registration system. [February 1, 2010: Though the ’on-time’ registration period has closed, WCUSC is still accepting registration with a $20 late fee.]  For any In-House Leagues questions, contact Damon Nolan.

(January 29. 2010) WCUSC is pleased to announce the Spring 2010 classes of the LITTLE PLAYER SOCCER PROGRAM. This program is uniquely developed to provide children aged 3-5 with their first experience in the beautiful game of soccer. This year WCUSC has added the Little Player PLUS Division which is for five year olds (DOB Aug. 1, 2004 to July 31, 2005). For more information on all spring classes, please go to the Little Player Program page.

(January 25th, 2010) WCUSC announces the Spring 2010 Training as part of the club’s First Touch Soccer Program. The Spring 2010 Training is open to all U-06, U-07 & U-08 Players (Boys & Girls) and will be held on Friday Nights from 5:30 to 7:00PM with kick-off on March 26th. Under the direction of the WCUSC coaching staff and directors of coaching, it runs for five weeks to April 23rd. The WCUSC Family Fun Day at the acac Fitness and Wellness Center was a hugh success.  Over 60 families with more then 250 members enjoyed the many activities available at the acac facility in West Chester.

WCUSC and acac will be partnering again towards the summer for a second Family Fun Day that will include the use of the acac outdoor pools.  Stayed tuned for an announcement with the date of this second event later this spring.

(January 15, 2010) Former WCUSC player Becky Edwards was taken as the 12th overall player in the 2010 Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) draft by FC Gold Pride (CA).  Joining Edwards in the WPS draft were her WCUSC Predators’87 teammates Jill Hutchinson and Mallori Lofton-Malachi.  Hutchinson (30th overall) and Lofton-Malachi (39th overall) were both drafted by the Atlanta Beat.  Lofton-Malachi was then traded to the Philadelphia Independence. Congratulations to Becky, Jill, & Mallori; WCUSC wishes them best of luck as they start their professional soccer careers this spring.
